Covid-19, Zoom & Unicorns
Covid-19, contactless challenges, new ways connect on Zoom and Storytime with uncle Roo the unicorn & auntie Kath the giraffe.
March has been a unique and deeply memorable month - it started off with a torrent of work - my diary was crammed with HomeBuyers Surveys and RICS Valuations. The outbreak of Covid-19 turned this upside down, as drastic and necessary measures have urgently been introduced to try and manage the pandemic.
It is challenging to know how to manage in the lockdown with so little contact. In the recent past I would rarely would have made video calls and now the likes of Zoom is enabling me to remain sane and continue to connect with family, friends, clients and colleagues.
This morning started at 6.30 with a Zoom breakfast meeting with the fantastically supportive members of BNI Nightingale, which raised my energy ready for the rest of the day. I spoke to a couple of clients and agreed some work for tomorrow. The highlight of the day was reading a David Walliams story the Boy in the Dress to a bunch of nephews & nieces. I decided to make it entertaining and borrowed a unicorn onesie from my daughter Jemima and put some face paint on. My wife Kath borrowed a giraffe onesie and we read a couple of chapters to the kids, it was deeply satisfying all around.
Keeping communicating seems to be the key to getting through the physical isolation - text an old friend, ring your parents, and download Zoom. Its very much a new decade * we need to adjust to the new ways of working and keePing in touch!
