Celebrating the pets who make our house a home
Bit of a personal share from me this week on the blog…
My wife Kath, daughter Jemima and I are all celebrating the life of our golden retriever Ella, who died naturally at home a few days ago. At 14 years old, Ella was a loving and much-loved member of our family who particularly enjoyed companionship, good food and lots of play.
When we previously lived in a flat with no garden, Ella was the dog that was promised to our daughter Jemima when we finally got a house with a proper outdoor space. She helped us become a family, settle into our new home and had a therapeutic quality, helping us heal from the loss of our son Max two years earlier. She even converted several people who previously didn’t like dogs into devoted dog lovers – including my father in law Jim.
Although our home will be quieter and possibly less mischievous without Ella, we’ll never forget the years of long walks together on south London’s parks and commons, or the fun, love and laughter she brought into our lives.
So go well Ella, it’s been a deep pleasure knowing you.
